A senator described those who continue to question and attack Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's leadership, despite having being answered, as having a personal vendetta.

"Though we have many problems, the prime minister and his cabinet managed to solve the problems […] the people are not suffering," said senator Jaspal Singh who was present at a press conference today held by the Malaysian Senate Council (MSM) to give their undivided support to Najib.

"Anyone can give comments, but (in the case of Dr Mahathir) the answers were provided. But this thing (attacks on the PM) continues, almost becoming akin to a personal vendetta  [..] the sort of thing which is not necessary," said Jaspal ( left ), who is also the MIC treasurer.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman, the council president, said the critics meant to tarnish Najib's image.

While claiming the criticisms were baseless, he declined to say if this applied to Mahathir's comments.

"We reiterate, we back Najib 100 percent," Abdul Rahim merely asserted.

Stressing the support given by the council didn't come blindly, he urged Najib's critics to look ahead instead of focusing on dated topics which were no longer issues.

Mahathir had renewed his attacks against Najib since Apr 2 through his blog, focusing on controversial 1MDB as well as on the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

He also claimed BN would lose in next general election if Najib continue to lead Umno.

Abdul Rahim ( right ) added it was also not appropriate for Mahathir to harp on the issue of the crooked bridge to Singapore again, as Najib had given it due consideration and made his decision.

Mahathir had criticised Najib for breaking his promise on the crooked bridge, where the latter had agreed to build one if Singapore had agreed to it, but changed his mind after becoming premier.

MSM had expressed undivided support to Najib last Tuesday, and reiterated its stand at the first day of the sitting of the Senate.
