The posting courted comedic responses from netizens.
“Ahmad Maslan is so determined. After several attempts he finally succeeds in his mission to shake the Johor Sultan’s hand. Congratulations!” said a Twitter user using the handle @IbnRamli1.
Another user using the Twitter handle @myusairi_myusof said: “Congratulations Datuk, finally you succeded in shaking the sultan's hand. Pitiful hahaha.”
Twitter user @Perlimaya joked: “Tuanku was forced (to shake your hand). He kept sitting in front, blocking the walkway.”
However, the photograph was before the snubbing which took place in Pontian on April 7.
In the video , Ahmad is seen extending both his hands at least three times to shake the Johor sultan’s hand but was ignored.
The Johor sultan was seen shaking the hands of those around him but apparently skipped Ahmad.
The video, which was uploaded yesterday by Facebook page Amran fans, has garnered over 129,000 views, with netizens making fun of the deputy minister.
“His (Ahmad) hands are so cute, it is like a hamster playing sunflower seeds,” remarked Facebook user Shevrul Farhan.
Another Facebook user, Kuyeh Red, said: “Getting CGPA 3.85 does not guarantee one can shake the sultan’s hand,” in reference to Ahmad’s previous boast on Twitter about his university performance.
