MCA: Cops there to avoid ‘any untoward incident’
The allegation by DAP’s MP for Segambut, YB Lim Lip Eng, that the MCA Youth members were escorted by traffic police to and from the DAP headquarters on Friday was a false allegation.
We would like to set the record straight that although there were police present at the DAP headquarters when MCA Youth held our press conference and thereafter submit resignation letters prepared for the DAP legislators, their presence, as we were informed by an inspector who was present, was to avoid any untoward incident.
That was the very reason why the police only allowed three (3) representatives from MCA Youth to enter the premises of the DAP headquarters and to submit the said resignation letters.
On our part, we understand the intention of the police and thus fully cooperated with the police. That was the only thing the police had done in their presence, and none of the police present was to escort our members for the purpose of facilitating traffic as claimed by the MP for Segambut.
It thus appears that the allegation by YB Lim Lip Eng was ill-intended to divert the public's attention away from the failure of DAP to stop PAS from implementing hudud and to defend and uphold the sanctity of the federal constitution. Such is the tactic of DAP to cover up its weakness and failure, and a foolish attempt to mislead the public.
We therefore urge DAP to stop shirking away from its responsibility to defend the federal constitution. DAP should instead stand up firm against PAS and stop its evil plan to implement hudud in Kelantan.
LEONG KIM SOON is MCA Youth secretary-general.
