Scientists across Europe have warned people against wearing sunglasses to view tomorrow’s solar eclipse, Xinhua news agency reported.

It strongly cautioned the public against viewing the eclipse through dark glasses and video cameras.

“These objects are not only unsuitable for observing the sun but are dangerous and could cause irreversible damage to the retina,” said the Belgian Health Ministry.

Viewers must use glasses especially equipped to observe solar eclipses to view the phenomenon.

Such glasses must be intact and must not be damaged by holes or scratches.

A total solar eclipse will take place on March 20.
