Rafizi: No PM will ever be good enough for Dr M

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli deduces that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohammad suffers from a ‘superiority complex’ syndrome as he finds all his successors not worthy of the top post.
Rafizi’s disclosure comes after the recent spate of attacks Mahathir launched against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his brainchild, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Rafizi’s disclosure comes after the recent spate of attacks Mahathir launched against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his brainchild, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
“Mahathir suffers from this superiority complex syndrome where he thinks he is the only one fit to be prime minister.
“If you follow the past, it is clear what he is trying to do now, he is trying to remove Najib as the prime minister,” Rafizi told
Malaysiakini at Parliament today.
Rafizi added the recent attacks on Najib and 1MDB follow the same modus operandi Mahathir (right) applied when he wanted to dislodge his successor, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, from the prime minister’s post.
“Mahathir moves methodically when he wants to remove a prime minister. He starts with attacking one or two issues. He then withdraws his support and if that doesn’t work, he then declares that he would leave Umno,” Rafizi said.
The Pandan MP added the recent attacks do not necessarily mean that Mahathir has an ‘ulterior motive’ but could be that he is unhappy with the current leadership for not abiding by his advice.
Mukhriz too, cannot
“It is not necessarily a case where that he wants something or has an ulterior motive. He genuinely feels that Najib is not doing what he ought to be doing.
“Mahathir wants his views to be taken into account which the current prime minister is not doing,” Rafizi explained.
Rafizi said he believes that even if Mahathir’s son, Kedah Menteri
Besar Mukhriz Mahathir (left) manages to become prime minister one day, he would not be spared from his father’s wrath.
“I don’t think he will ever find a suitable successor. I think even if Mukhriz becomes prime minister, he will remove Mukhriz. It comes back to his conviction that unless it is done the way he wants it to be done, then the country is going to waste,” Rafizi observed.
Mahathir has recently been extremely vocal and critical about Najib’s administration as well as pointing out the flaws with 1MDB.
In a recent blog posting, the octogenarian also criticised Najib’s stepson for his fancy residence and funding Hollywood movies and asked for the wealth of the Najib family to be probed.
