All smiles at meeting with Umno division heads
                                                          
Ferdtan: All smiles and “yeas” to Umno President Najib Razak from 160 division chiefs. That means that 31 who did not attend, out of a total of 191 chiefs, are not in agreement.
 
Why was there a need for the called-up, mandatory obviously, of division chiefs to reiterate their support for their party chief? In politics that will only happen when a leader is about to lose his position or under threatening political attack.
 
The notable absentees at the meeting, DPM Muhyddin Yassin and Kedah MB Mukhriz Mahathir tell an interesting story. Surely this means that the attack to dislodge PM is imminent; in that they were not afraid to offend the PM by their absence.
 
We have to add that not all of these supporting division chiefs who were present are guaranteed to be with Najib. They can and may swing to the other side once the battle begins.
 
With strong attacks internally within the party and with added problem of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim in jail, the fate of Najib Razak is sealed; it is the matter of not if, but when.
 
Vijay47: I realise now and must admit that I have been somewhat remiss in my opinion regarding Umno, its members, and more importantly, its division heads.
 
Despite the challenges and limitations of an education system that Umno itself has foisted upon us, I am impressed that those who attended Najib's 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) briefing are quite an intelligent lot actually, about on the same level as members of the cabinet.
 
In a mere 90 minutes, they were able to fathom the intricacies of international finance, corporate strategies, accounting principles, golden geese, and the contributions of a stubborn Chinaman to the national economy.
 
But truth be told, their understanding was no doubt ably assisted by Najib's simple yet clear explanation of the 1MDB situation.
 
I look forward to a series of roadshows, ably managed by Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Khairy Jamaluddin, of course, where Najib would render similar enlightenment to the Umno grassroots.
 
And for good measure he could throw in the theory of relativity and the Doppler Effect. 
 
Iiiizzzziiii: Yes, all is well and everything is going to be fine with Umno. The PM is an honourable and sincere man with an impeccable integrity. He is the only person who can transform the country into a developed nation by 2020.
 
1MDB is that vehicle that is capable of achieving that dream for the majority of people in the country. And the young ‘con’sultant for 1MDB is god send to provide vision and wisdom to the PM. Why can't everyone in the country see this?
 
The PM did say "I help you, you help me" to the selected people, and this means if the majority of people continue to help the PM, all will be well taken care of.
 
 
'PM's name used in trying to bypass Bank Negara'

Magnus: I can't for the life of me understand why Najib is not going after the proven wrongdoers since he must know that these various media are wrong and so are defaming him.
 
After all, was it not Najib himself who said: “If any wrongdoing is proven, the law will be enforced without exception”?
 
Anon1: With all this damning revelations, nothing can be done at all against the alleged wrongdoers. Why?
 
Because the entire government machinery including the saviours of the constitution are appointed by that same national coalition party since independence. Only by hitting rock bottom can we move forward, which is not too long from now.
 
Unspin: If one follows the money trail in the Sarawak Report, one can safely conclude that the original funds that was supposed to come back from Cayman Islands has disappeared.
 
1MDB’s contention that it has recouped its original investment in PetroSaudi including a 49 percent profit can only come from another source - not unlike a Ponzi scheme where new money is used to pay dividend on old money.
 
Mushiro: Najib said that he did not run the day-to-day operations of 1MDB. But Jho Low told Petrosaudi director Patrick Mahony that the "PM" had signed on the loan and hence Bank Negara’s approval was not necessary.
 
This showed that when it came to money, the PM gave quick approvals to avoid red tape and proper scrutinising.
 
Louis: If true, this is the most explosive revelation thus far. It takes a man with super guts to use the PM's name to bypass Bank Negara. But on the other hand, Low must be closed enough to the PM in order to confidently use his name.
 
Even though we might write the same letter using PM's name, no one will believe us. As such Najib has a lot of explaining to do about his close relationship with Low. It will not come as a surprise if indeed Low has written such a letter.
 
This is a consequence of the 1MDB advisory board chairman who spends more time travelling than sitting in the office to keep tabs on the happenings in the company. As the saying goes, while the cat is away, the mice will play.
                       
Abasir: The whole bunch is guilty by omission or commission. There are absolutely no exceptions.
 
And now that the ‘Ketuanan Kabinet’ has declared that everything in this high flying scam is above board, it should be roped in as well... for attempting to mislead the rakyat in an effort to protect the chairman and finance minister.
 
Doc: Next time, use RM's (Rosmah Mansor) name. I think that will carry more weight with Bank Negara.
