Prime Minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor would not make a fuss over hairdresser overcharging if she is a spendthrift as claimed, said former Umno Youth exco member Lokman Adam.

He said this while defending Rosmah who is under fire over her remark on how expensive it is to dye her hair.

“If Rosmah was a spendthrift and she has RM30 billion to spare as alleged, she would not have felt that RM1,200 is expensive,” Lokman said in a Facebook posting.

Referring to Malaysiakini's recording, Lokman (below) added that the words Rosmah used in her speech implied that she did not hire the hairdresser because it was too expensive.
 
Rosmah had said: "Sekarang kalau saya nak cat rambut dekat rumah, dia caj RM1,200.. amboi mahalnya. Kalau dekat kedai different charge, ni home service.(Now if I want to dye my hair at home, the hairdresser charges me RM1,200. Wow, that is expensive but they say the price is different in the store. It’s pricey because it is home service...).”

She said this at a goods and service tax briefing last week.

"This means she had just asked how much it costs, and the price was expensive for her.

"Normally if it is expensive, surely we would not use the service," Lokman said.

He added that if she had accepted the price, she would have said: "Saya cat rambut di rumah RM1200 sebab home service (I dyed my hair at home for RM1,200 because it was home service)."

'Don't believe opposition news'
 
As such, he said, the people should not be swayed by "opposition news reports" and urged them to study what Rosmah had actually meant to say.
 
News of her expensive hairdo and other exorbitant expenses have gained international attention.
 
The Prime Minister's Office earlier said the PM and his family’s lifestyle is funded by “legacy family assets”.

The statement raised concern among Najib’s brothers who last week released a statement saying that talk of inheritance is tainting their late father, second PM Abdul Razak Hussein.

They said their father was well known for his “frugality and utmost integrity”.
