PKR vice -president Rafizi Ramli has queried the veracity of the statements made by DSP Jude Pereira, as the latter is not seen as credible.

"Pereira ­ who was impeached before at the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) hearing, ­ is considered and declared a not credible witness," Rafizi said at a press conference yesterday.

The Pandan MP added that Malaysians should not pay heed to what Pereira says as the latter himself does not comply by proper procedures.

"Throughout the court trial, Pereira admitted that he had disobeyed the then inspector-general of police’s standing order and opened the seal.

“He did so many things which are not in accordance to police procedure.

"Someone of this character... anything can come out of his mouth," Rafizi (right) pointed out.

Rafizi further said that the fact that the Bar Council had stopped Pereira from being a barrister also "speaks volumes of his credibility".

Pereira ­ who was investigating the Sodomy II incident ­claimed that he had met with former inspector­ general of police Musa Hassan and MyWatch chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan before the last general election in 2013.

In the meeting with Sanjeevan, Pereira claimed he had been asked to allege that there was a conspiracy against Anwar (left), and that he would be well taken care of if the opposition coalition won the general election.

Pereira said that he had refused to conform to the offer and had instead informed Musa of the matter.

Commenting on the above, Rafizi noted that both Musa and Pereira should have lodged a police report regarding the offer and not kept mum about it.

"If you become aware that there is an attempt to subvert the course of justice or to interfere in (an) investigation, then it is a criminal act.

"An experienced police officer like Pereira should immediately lodge a police report, (and the) same goes to Musa," Rafizi added.
