DAP's Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming has been left seething in anger after three policemen paid a visit to the Perak Pakatan Rakyat Chinese New Year open house in Ipoh, albeit not for very friendly reasons.

The three cops were there to serve Nga a notice to show up at the Bukit Aman police headquarters tomorrow to have his statement recorded, pertaining to a sedition probe against the MP.

Nga is one of several activists and politicians who had come under the sedition heat, following remarks made against the judiciary following the Sodomy II judgment against opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim on Feb 10.

However, Nga thought that the timing of the officers had been "insensitive".

"Of course, I am very pissed off. I thought it was very insensitive for the officers to serve notice at an open house," Nga commented on the incident, which happened at 11.30am today at the Wisma DAP in Perak.

Nga lamented that the officers had come in unannounced in front of "thousands of guests".

He was also unhappy with the fact that he was asked to go to Bukit Aman to have his statement recorded, even though he had already requested for the police to have the statement recorded in the Ipoh district police headquarters.

"I think it is highly unreasonable. If I have to go to Bukit Aman every day, then I might as well not do my job," he said.

'Police abusing their powers'

He added that the police were "abusing their powers" and "harassing" an elected parliamentarian.

"(But) of course, we are law-abiding citizens and happy to provide any assistance to the police," he noted.

Nga will go to Bukit Aman at 11am tomorrow, accompanied by fellow DAP colleagues Ngeh Koo Ham and Gobind Singh Deo.

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli will also be present at Bukit Aman at 1pm to have his statement recorded for a similar probe.

Rafizi's comments about the judiciary after the Sodomy II judgment are also being probed for sedition.

Nga and Rafizi had tweeted their thoughts immediately after the judgment was delivered, and were both singled out by inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar through the latter's own Twitter account.

Anwar was found guilty of sodomy and sentenced to five years in prison. He is currently in the Sungai Buloh prison.
