MyWatch chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan said a Malaysia Today posting that he had met Sodomy II investigator Jude Pereira to urge the police officer to release a statement claiming conspiracy is a "complete lie".

In fact, he said, the meeting arranged by former Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan was to confirm with Pereira if there was indeed a conspiracy in the case involving PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

"Unfortunately, since Jude was not willing to go on record, it ended there. I never met or contacted Jude since then,” the PKR member said in a statement.

"I should have known better than to trust these two individuals, Musa Hassan and Jude Pereira."

Anwar had nothing to do with the meeting with Pereira and that it was Sanjeevan's own initiative to find the truth, he added

Musa, who was once patron of the anti-crime NGO MyWatch, yesterday told Malaysiakini that he did arrange for Sanjeevan and Pereira to meet at his house in Petaling Jaya.
 
However, he denied asking Pereria if there was a conspiracy in the opposition leader's case as alleged in the article published by Malaysia Today blog.
 
"We talked about old times and regarding how Pereira wanted to be a practicing lawyer. I also told him that Sanjeevan wanted to meet him.
 
"Pereira later told me that he met Sanjeevan and the latter asked him to issue a press release about there being a conspiracy against Anwar," he added.
 
Musa said when Pereira told him that he refused to do so, he had commended the police officer for making a stand.
