Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin (below) said BN had kept quiet despite the accusations to let the courts independently decide on the case, but it will no longer hold its tongue.
"Now it's important for the most qualified person to explain, to fight the political conspiracy allegations.
"Even until the last day (of the trial), the defence lawyers still said it's a political conspiracy. So don't expect us to keep quiet. We invited Shafee to bring truth,” he said.
He was referring to prosecutor Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, who is speaking at Umno Youth's Akademi Kepimpinan Kapten Hussein (Akhi)'s forum on the case in Kelana Jaya tonight.
The case against Anwar concluded on Feb 10 with a guilty verdict on Feb 10 after seven years.
Too many players for a conspiracy
Addressing the packed forum, Shafee (below) said the political conspiracy theory is not plausible because there are too many people involved.
A conspiracy would mean not only complainant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan but government officers, doctors, hospitals, DNA experts were all complicit.
Besides, he said, he would never had taken up the case if it was political conspiracy.
"I will never do it," he said.
The lawyer entertained a lengthy question and answer session from the audience which included whether Anwar had committed contempt of court through his statements from the dock.
Shafee agreed that it is contempt and even dragged in Bar Council president Christopher Leong, whom he said was also contemptuous through his remarks on the case.
Shafee is under fire for his scathing attack of Anwar in a Mingguan Malaysia interview published last Sunday.
Law professor Gurdial Singh Nijar said he breached legal ethics while former Attorney-General Abdul Talib Othman frowned on Shafee's self-promotion.
In the interview, Shafee said Anwar would have fainted in the witness dock if he had submitted himself to the prosecution's cross-examination.
