PKR will rally tomorrow at the Jalan Duta Court Complex in a display of morale support for Anwar Ibrahim as the opposition leader is briefly taken out from prison for a defamation case.

“I urge Malaysians to support Anwar in his legal case against Foreign Minister Anifah Aman at 8.30am at Jalan Duta Court Complex,” said PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (right) in a statement today.

Nik Nazmi also thanked the public who have to date participated in vigils and gatherings in support of Anwar.

“Make no mistake; Anwar is fundamentally a political prisoner.

“His is the most prominent of too many cases of injustice in our land,” said Nik Nazmi.

He also slammed veteran lawyer Shafee Abdullah, who acted for the Attorney-General’s chambers as chief prosecutor in Anwar’s prosecution and successfully put him behind bars.

The Federal Court last Tuesday upheld Anwar’s sodomy conviction and five-year jail sentence.

Anwar, who maintains the charge is politically motivated, is serving his sentence in Sungai Buloh prison.

Anwar is suing Anifah after the latter alleged he was offered cash by the opposition leader to defect from the ruling coalition.

He will be facing off with Shafee again tomorrow as the lawyer is acting for Anifah.
