Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said Penang state exco member and PKR deputy youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin, along with PSM secretary-general S Arutchelvan and Jingga 13 chief Fariz Musa, will be hauled up to be investigated for sedition.
Khalid was reported in The Sun Daily to have said this following the comments made by the three over the Federal Court’s verdict on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
He said Fariz had urged Anwar’s supporters to overthrow the government through street protests, while Arutchelvan had claimed the verdict was politically motivated.
“Afif (left) will also be hauled for allegedly making similar urgings to Anwar’s supporters that the public should cease trust in the Malaysian judiciary.
“I have issued the warning; now it is time to enforce the law against those who breach and attempt to breach public order. They will be investigated for instigating the people to take to the streets,” Khalid said.
This is besides the arrest of political cartoonist Zunar or his real name Zulkiflee SM Anwar Ulhaque, who is being remanded until Saturday.
Besides Zunar, police are also investigating on PKR vice-president and secretary-general Rafizi Ramli and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming.
