PKR is eschewing its trademark mega rallies and will instead hold nightly solidarity vigils outside Sungai Buloh prison where PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is detained for sodomy.

Anwar was sent to jail for five years today after found guilty of sodomising his aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in 2008.

"(We will be there for) as long as people want to do it,"  Anwar's wife and party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said.

"We encourage the public to take part in the solidarity vigil outside the prison starting tomorrow," she told a press conference at the PKR headquarters.

In a deja vu of Anwar's first sodomy conviction in 2009, the couple's daughter Nurul Nuha will announce details of a 'March to Freedom' tomorrow.

Their eldest Nurul Izzah, now Lembah Pantai MP, campaigned hard for her father's freedom despite being only a teenager when Anwar first went to jail.

In her maiden press conference after the verdict, Wan Azizah tonight refused to divulge details of who will replace Anwar as Opposition Leader and stand in the Permatang Pauh by-election.

Anwar, a long-time Permatang Pauh MP has to vacate the seat given his conviction.

"It is too premature to decide," she said.

She replied the same when quizzed on whether she will fill those roles.

She added that the decisions would first need to be discussed with the other PR parties namely DAP and PAS.

"We would be discussing this with the rest and then take a collective decision on the matter," Wan Azizah said.

She also said neither the coalition or her were deterred by the decision today and will continue to fight on for the sake of the country.

"This is not a setback for Pakatan because it has been happening and this brings discussion about the politics in our country. 

"This is going to give us more reason to continue fighting. We will never ever surrender," she reiterated.

PKR MPs will also file a motion in Parliament to criticise the verdict while the party will hold special prayers ( solat hajat ) on Thursday night at all  branches nationwide, she said.
