Just hours the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council meeting convenes today, PAS has assured that its president, Abdul Hadi Awang, will be present.

PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali told journalists this after the end of the PAS central committee meeting at the party headquarters.

The Pakatan meeting will take place at the same venue two hours later.

"Yes, yes, he (Hadi) is already here (for the PAS central committee meeting), no problem.

"Yes (he will attend the Pakatan meeting), God willing," Mustafa (left) added.

DAP had said that it will not proceed with the Pakatan meeting if Hadi does not attend.

It has been insistent about Hadi's presence after he previously overruled Pakatan decisions, which were agreed upon by his subordinates who were sent in his place.

However, Mustafa was coy about revealing details on the earlier PAS central committee meeting, which lasted for three hours.

"It's just the usual, nothing unusual," he said, stating that some of the matters discussed include party membership and financial reports.

He added that the party is also considering holding its muktamar in Kuala Selangor in June.

Coy on hudud and local polls

When pressed whether the central committee had discussed hot potato issues like the local elections, Mustafa said "no".

PAS - which is opposed to local elections - has been at odds with DAP which is pushing for the polls.

When asked if the PAS central committee has agreed to present its hudud bill in the Pakatan leadership council meeting, Mustafa was likewise coy.

"It depends on the situation... It's not certain yet," he said repeatedly.

He added that the main agenda for the Pakatan meeting will be to discuss steps to strengthen the coalition.

Mustafa was also asked about a protest this morning by Hadi's supporters demanding PAS central committee member Hatta Ramli to resign, which he brushed off.

He noted that the protest was not discussed in the central committee meeting as well.

The protesters alleged that Hatta was masterminding a coup against Hadi.
