YOURSAY ‘Is the government so poor that it needs to pressure staff for cash?’

MOH confirms directive of ‘forced’ donations

Vijay47: Nobody sane will raise any protest over the collection of funds to assist victims of disasters like floods but obviously, contributions must be voluntary, and not achieved through forceful means.

Must victims themselves, if they are Health Ministry employees, donate?

Incidentally, the tone of arrogance and viciousness of the director-general of the Health Ministry reflects quite clearly the present flavour of the month. But at least victims were not asked to apologise 90 times.

Mushiro: It is not right to arm twist staff to donate a fixed amount, however justified the cause can be. People may not also trust the management of the funds.

It is worrying that the government is resorting to this as it may reflect the government's lack of funds.

Freethinker: Is this collecting donation or ransom? Has the government gone so poor that it needs to force its employees to ‘donate’ specific amounts of money? If that's not extortion, I do not know what is.

RSOH: What about the Health Ministry staff who are neck deep in commitments and debt? Do they have to choose between their family and their career? Health Minister S Subramaniam should resign over this fiasco.

Abasir: Indeed, has this regime become so broke that it has to extort “donations" from its employees possibly to meet some key performance index set by some consultant?

Was this extortion exclusively a Health Ministry exercise or was every ministry doing the same extorting?

Odysseus: After collecting or ‘extorting’ the money, is there anyone who is going to keep track of the expenses and audit it?

Punish MCA for Ismail attack, Umno men urge

Appum: Former Umno Youth secretary Zulkefli Alwi, I absolutely agree with you. Review MCA’s, Gerakan’s, MIC’s contribution to BN. We all know these mosquito component parties are not effective towards winning seats to represent their so-called races anymore.

Their racial groupings they are supposed to represent have already rejected them as shown in the last general election. Come the 14th general election they will suffer even more defeats.

With this kind of ineffective component members, why does Umno need them for? Just a show, out of obligation?

Sack these passengers in your train and perhaps team up with PAS. This will surely make Umno even stronger.

CQ Muar: Indeed, the moment those Umnoputeras are in full control and at the driver's seat, others will be mere "passengers" and subject to being evicted when you're no longer useful.

Stop fooling yourselves that BN is the one and only. Put aside your selfish and personal ambition for material gains.

At the very least, forge a pact with those thinking and moderate Malays, who are the future leaders we aspire for in this country.

Anonymous_40f4: It’s fun to watch these three racist parties - Umno, MCA and MIC - at loggerheads with one another.

Umno claims they are champion of Malays, MCA the Chinese and MIC the Indians. We don’t get these kinds of racist parties anywhere in the world.

Even our so-called newspapers and television have different news for different races. Malay language news is about Malay minsters, Chinese-language news is about Chinese ministers and Tamil news is about Indian ministers and their respective race issues.

Anonymous #19098644: If MCA and Gerakan have any dignity, they should just quit the BN and remove the fig leaf that the BN is a multiracial coalition. It is not. It is an Umno government with multiracial fig leafs for decoration.

When MCA was not in the government for nine months, did it make any difference to the Chinese community? No, it didn't.

Let’s once and for all let the Malays, Kadazans, Indians, Ibans and Chinese know that Umno is nothing but an extremist racist party and a vote for them is a vote for extremism, self-interest and corruption.

Even many urban Malays cannot tolerate them. And the knowledgeable civil servants, both past and present, know them for the wolf in sheep's clothing that they are. So please stop the charade.

Visu: MCA can apologise to Umno and MIC can teach MCA how to discard shame and learn to kiss Umno so that they can happily continue to be the salivating dog waiting for the Umno-sucked bone to be thrown at them.

MCA, Gerakan and MIC can then screw up an unsuspecting Umno real good at the 14th general election by making sure that they get as many candidates to stand for election to lose, while supporting the opposition with a covert deal struck just before GE14 to join forces with the opposition to form the new government.

Umno is trying to get the fragmented Malays to unite so that they can remain in power. MCA, Gerakan and MIC have to see through this ploy of Umno and therefore realise that they will be the losers eventually is they do not take strategic action now (covertly).

If not, GE14 would see all Chinese and Indians marginalised in their own country.
