'Miscommunication' cited as cops deny arrest

This contradicts Johor FA and the Football Association of Malaysia statements claiming that the 12 have been remanded for five days to assist with police investigations.
"There were no arrests. I understand there was a statement released on the Johor Southern Tigers (official) Facebook page, but we arrested no one so how could we remand anyone?
"They should have referred to us before releasing any statements," Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Sulaiman Salleh said when contacted.
Earlier Johor FA through the club’s official Facebook page 'Johor Southern Tigers' condemned the banner and said the 12 were remanded.
This was corroborated by FAM secretary-general Hamidin Mohd Amin who in a statement said marshalls and police nabbed the fans within an hour of the incident.
Johor FA: All 12 released after quizzed
Johor FA's chief marketing and media officer Ahmad Yani Ismail, however, clarified to Malaysiakini that the 12 were never remanded.
He said there Johor FA had wrongly stated that they were due to a miscommunication.
"There was a miscommunication. Twelve inidividuals were questioned that night but were released on the same night after they gave their statements," he said.
He added that he has also clarified the matter with FAM.
JDT fans unfurled a large banner which stretched across a section of the bleachers, depicting a dog-headed man holding a puppy while wearing a suit with an FAM logo on its breast pocket.
A thought bubble showed that the dog-headed man was thinking of “RM”.
The incident happened during the Charity Shield match between Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and Pahang on Jan 31, a fortnight after JDT was fined RM100,000 by FAM for violating M-League transfer rules when it tapped midfielder Gary Steven Robbat from Pahang.
The banner was condemned by Johor FA as “provocation and hooliganism” while FAM president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad’s wife Tengku Azizah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar Ismail said it was “insolent and rude”.
Tengku Azizah, a Johor princess now married to the Pahang crown prince, said that on her personal Instagram account @tengkupuanpahang today but later deleted the post.
