Returning fire, NGO Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa) president Phahrolrazi Zawawi has hinted that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang should quit the party.

Speaking to Malaysiakini today, he said those in PAS who are opposed to Pakatan Rakyat should be the ones to abandon ship.

In a Facebook posting yesterday, Hadi had employed a seafaring analogy to hit out at PasMA, which he accused of "punching holes in its own vessel."

He said that PasMa should opt to switch ships if they wished to reach the intended destination faster.

"Go to the DAP ship, PKR ship, if you want to reach Putrajaya quicker, join the Umno ship," he added.

However, Phahrolrazi pointed out that the party annual assembly (muktamar) agreed that PAS should remain in Pakatan.

"That was the decision of PAS and the muktamar.

"So those who don't agree with that principle (of staying with Pakatan) also don't agree with what has been decided by PAS.

"They are the ones who should leave the party," he said.

Phahrolrazi also argued that disagreeing with PAS leaders and possessing a different opinion do not mean that members must exit the party.

He also pointed out that the attack on PasMa by Hadi was irrelevant as not all in PasMa are PAS members.

"PasMa is an NGO, which is an entity on its own - the question of going in or out of PAS does not arise as PasMa never joined PAS in the first place," he added.
