DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua today asked if 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) would willingly testify in front of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) regarding the company's business decisions.
 
PAC chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed recently said that while PAC would not summon 1MDB to testify, he was open to 1MDB "willingly" testifying in front of the committee.
 
"The onus is now with (1MDB CEO) Arul Kanda Kandasamy to come to the PAC and demonstrate, as he had earlier stated, that he welcomed public scrutiny as a good thing," Pua (right) said in a statement today.
 
"I would like to ask, when will 1MDB testify to the PAC? Or has the new CEO decided that public scrutiny is not such a good thing after all," he added.
 
Pua also pointed out that he had not engaged with Arul Kanda to date even though the latter had promised to engage with him over criticisms levelled against 1MDB.
 
"Since my statement on Jan 17 welcoming his offer to have a dialogue with me, I have not heard or received anything further from Arul," he revealed.
