Police say portal is banned from covering all events at PMO.
Putrajaya's restriction of the online media has shown no signs of dissipating as Malaysiakini was again barred from entering the Prime Minister's Office complex today.
Malaysiakini had sought to enter the building for an event attended by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin but the journalist was turned away by security guards.
"Malaysiakini cannot enter at all," said a police staffer.
The officials also confirmed that the ban remains regardless of which minister holds events inside the PMO premises.
Several times last year, Malaysiakini faced similar problems in entering PMO.
On July 8 last year, the portal was banned from entering PMO to cover a press conference by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
It was also not allowed to cover Najib's cabinet expansion announcement, and the Selangor state government's memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with the federal government over the water restructuring deal.
