Former Kelantan menteri besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat does not intend to undergo chemotherapy to treat his stage-four prostate cancer.
Nik Mohamad Abduh said his father, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few years ago, was instead taking medicines as prescribed by the doctor.
"The tablets taken by my father are also to boost his energy and he has been
showing some positve reaction from taking the medicines.
"Alhamdulillah (thanks be to God), my father is comfortable with the
medicines, although he is not undergoing chemotherapy," he told reporters when met at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, yesterday.
The Tengku Mahkota Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra visited Nik Aziz at the hospital today.
Muhammad Faiz arrived at 5.40pm and spent about 15 minutes at the ward where he enquired about Nik Aziz's health condition.
Present during the visit were Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner II Dr Johari
Mat; state local government, housing, health and environment committee chairperson Abdul Fattah Mahmood; and state youth, sports and NGO committee chairman Dr Ramli Mamat.
Nik Aziz, 84, was admitted to HUSM on Monday following his worsening health condition during the recent massive floods, besides suffering from prostate
cancer.
He was Kelantan's fifth menteri besar, holding the post from 1990 to 2013.
