Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has slammed DAP lawmaker Teresa Kok for claiming that the right wing movement exists because of Umno.

In a text message oozing with rage, he described her statement as "totally bullshit" and stressed that Perkasa is not an "Umno tool".

Accusing Kok of "talking rubbish", he said just like DAP, Perkasa's activities and struggle are on record for all to view.

Earlier, the DAP MP claimed that Perkasa existed because of the fear of Umno losing federal power and not to tackle the "extremist views" of non-Malays.

"Umno's failure to denounce Perkasa's extremist views and the government's funding of Perkasa's activities show that Umno strongly supports Perkasa's existence," she added.

Kok was commenting on Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement yesterday that he did not sever ties with Perkasa as claimed in a news report.

Mahathir had also revealed that he supported the movement with regard to responding to the extremist views of non-Malays.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim also argued that unlike DAP, Perkasa did not participate in illegal assemblies such as the Bersih rallies.

He also lamented that when Perkasa responded to "extremists" in non-Malay parties, they would be labelled as "racist and extremist" instead.

The critics, he pointed out, would argue on the basis of democratic and human rights to defend sensitive subjects being raised.

"Kok seldom condemns when groups hit Islam. These people, including Kok, are first degree hypocrites.

"Perkasa is not a tool of Umno. We criticise Umno when necessary. We are not power hungary like Kok, DAP and PKR," he said.
