Called a rascal by Samy, MIC sec-gen lodges report

Newly-appointed MIC secretary-general G Kumaar Amaan lodged a police report against former MIC president S Samy Vellu for allegedly calling him a “rascal” and threatening to “finish (him) off”.

Newly-appointed MIC secretary-general G Kumaar Amaan lodged a police report against former MIC president S Samy Vellu for allegedly calling him a “rascal” and threatening to “finish (him) off”.
Samy’s son and ousted MIC strategic director S Vell Paari earlier accused Kumaar (left) of using “vulgar language” against Samy when the MIC veteran called Kumaar to ask about the new regulations for the MIC headquarters.
“Samy told me he is ex-president and a lifetime MIC member. He also used the words “finish you off” and berated me by calling me a “rascal” but the line then got cut.
“I called him back to discuss this and was very respectful but he raised his voice,” Kumaar said in his police report lodged at the Dang Wangi police station yesterday.
In an open letter to Kumaar, Vell Paari said Kumaar had used foul language against Samy and threatened to report Kumaar to the Registrar of Societies as an illegal secretary-general.
“I have instructed my lawyers to seek a declaration on your unlawful appointment. I also will report you to ROS for acting with an unlawful position to seek a ruling on your membership in a society,” Vell Paari (left) wrote in the open letter.
Kumaar had on Sunday issued a press statement that any events at the MIC headquarters must have written approval from him, following press meets having been held there to criticise MIC leaders.
Only those with security tags will be allowed into the building and only authorised vehicles allowed to enter the compounds, he said on Sunday.
In his police report, Kumaar said he told Samy that the security measures is to stop outsiders from entering the offices of the Federal Territories and Selangor MIC and Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED), located at the MIC headquarter at Jalan Rahmat, Kuala Lumpur.
He also told Samy that there are no restrictions barring latter entering the premises.
Rifts within MIC widened when president G Palanivel moved a leadership reshuffle, soon after an emergency meeting on the ROS’ instructions for the party to hold re-elections for several divisions.
The party risks de-registration if it does not do so, after ROS found irregularities in the party polls.
MIC vice-president M Saravanan claims Palanivel has kept mum by not returning calls on the matter, but Palanivel assured that the 64-year-old party will not be de-registered.
