Former Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chief executive officer Faekah Husin has slammed the audit report on the RM2.6 million worth of severance payments to former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s aides.

Faekah said the audit report was flawed, not done professionally and had malicious intent.

“The audit is also questionable when it was used as a public document without first obtaining explanation from the relevant parties including the former menteri besar (Khalid),” she said in a statement today.

This is the first time that Faekah had broken her silence over the matter, as she previously refused to make comments.

The compensation, totaling RM2.6 million to eight of Khalid’s former staff including Faekah, was paid at the end of Khalid's term as menteri besar just before Azmin Ali took over the post on Sept 23 last year.

Faekah today also confirmed that she had received a letter of demand from MBI to return the severance payment.

However, Faekah said all the recipients under the mutual severance scheme (MSS) will obtain the services of lawyers to examine the letter before taking the next step.

“I have asked my lawyer to scrutinise it from a legal angle and do a counterclaim, which will not only be limited to getting the full amount of the severance pay until the contract ends, but to obtain damages due to the broken promises under the MSS and damages on the humiliation we have experienced,” she said.

She also denied that the severance payment made under MSS was done in an incorrect manner and did not obtain the necessary approval, as stated in the letter of demand.

“The letter of demand also failed to explain clearly any violations that were committed under the law as well as the alleged misconduct when the payment was made."

Criticising the new administration under Menteri Besar Azmin Ali (right), Faekah said the administration had gone overboard on this matter.

“The MSS approach was taken to give space to the new administration to continue in their own administration style without having to work together with the former staff. 

“I am disappointed that the mutual agreement had been violated by the new administration and because of this, we want to challenge the agreement.

“The unprofessional action in manipulating this report has prejudiced all parties involved, including the recipients of the severance payment,” she said.

According to Bernama, Azmin had urged the eight former staff of Khalid to return the money within 14 days from the date of the letter as the payment was made without following procedures and regulations.

He said the decision was made after receiving advice from the state's lawyer and assured that the eight individuals will compensated accordingly.
