Five men detained for ATM break-in

Police have arrested five men suspected of breaking and fleeing with an automated teller machine (ATM) at a petrol station in Bukit Kemuning, Shah Alam, on Dec 27.
Selangor CID chief Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the suspects, aged between 29 and 39 years, were detained in several raids around Bandar Kinrara in Puchong, Subang Permai and Bukit Jelutong between Dec 29 and 30.
"Based on the investigation, this group is also suspected of attempting to remove the ATMs in Section U16 and U8 in Bukit Jelutong on Oct 19 and Dec 15 last year," Mohd Adnan told reporters at the Selangor police contingent headquarters in Shah Alam today.
He said during the raids, police also seized RM27,560 in cash, a Toyota Hilux, a Perodua Kancil, several mobile phones and some tools used in the criminal activities of the suspects.
Three of them have criminal records
Three of the suspects were also found to have criminal records involving robberies and vehicle thefts. They have all been remanded for further investigation.
Selangor police are also looking for a man to assist in the investigation into a robbery in Bukit Lanchong, Putra Heights, on Dec 23.
Mohd Adnan said the man has been identified as Muhamad Fuad Mat Isa, 25, from Taman Dagang, Ampang.
"The suspect is believed to have been involved in a gang robbery on a businessman. The victim has claimed a loss of RM1.65 million in cash and 40 gold pieces, each weighing 100 grammes.
"Following the incident, police apprehended seven suspects, including an Indonesian man, aged between 20 and 50 years, on Dec 27," he said.
Mohd Adnan urged members of the public with information on Muhamad Fuad to contact the operational intelligence officer at the Subang Jaya police headquarters, ASP Rodney Pasla Haris- at 016-8977664, or the nearest police station.
