National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFC Corp) chief executive officer Mohamad Salleh Ismail said PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli's allegations have "ruined his family".

Testifying in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today, Salleh said he was very sad because all his projects were destroyed, "my family too, everyone just believes (Rafizi's allegations)".

The husband of Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil further said Rafizi's accusations on the NFC scandal was aimed at destroying him.

After Rafizi’s expose, Salleh said that 110 articles were published, all of which attacked his family.

He said this when testifying as the first witness in his defamation suit against Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and former PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.

Rafizi was central in a series of exposes against the NFC project involving a RM250 million government soft loan.

Salleh denied claims he had used the funds to obtain a bank loan to purchase eight units of condominiums in the  KL Eco City project (above).

He said the expose made by Rafizi was instead aimed to bring him down, NFC, Shahrizat as well as the BN government.

Although Nurul Izzah and Rafizi (left) had made the exposes on March 7, 2012, and the date for the general election had not yet been set, Salleh believes it was an attack against him, his wife and the government.

Separately, the NFC boss is also facing two counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) totalling RM49.7 million in a case over the purchase of the two Bangsar condominiums in what was later dubbed the 'cow condo' scandal.

Vehement denial

Meanwhile, Salleh in court today, when questioned by his lawyer Shafee Abdullah, vehemently denied he had misused the funds.

“There is no such thing, I did not touch the funds in NFC at all,” he said.

Salleh said Public Bank did offer to issue him a loan to purchase eight condominium units but the offer did not materialise in the end.

“Public Bank withdrew the loan offer on January 4, 2012 before the press conference made by Rafizi on March 7,” he said.

Salleh said he had deposited money into the Public Bank account as valuation when he was offered the loan.

As such, the Public Bank statement of accounts exposed by Rafizi a month before Public Bank withdrew the loan offer, were accounts which had not been cancelled.

His Public Bank account which had RM421 was used to activate the loan for the purchase of two properties at Plaza Damas 3 and did not have anything to do with KL Eco City, he added.

Salleh said he had deposited a portion of NFC’s funds worth RM71.4 million in a Public Bank account. However, he claimed did he did not use the money up to the period when it was frozen.

He added that all loans made were through real estate mortgages and not through mortgage of public funds.

Meanwhile, on lawyer from the defence team Joshua Kevin’s question that Shahrizat (left) had resigned from all government posts due to pressure from BN component parties, Salleh said he believed that attacks from PKR were the main reason for Shahrizat’s resignation.

“I even asked former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, and he did not put pressure on Shahrizat.

“He only said that Shahrizat should resign because of the attacks by PKR,” he said.
