MIC president G Palanivel is dragging his feet over party polls irregularities so the Registrar of Societies (ROS) will deregister the party, ousted MIC central working committee member (CWC) R Ramanan claimed.

Ramanan said the 68-year-old party faces deregistration tomorrow as it has done nothing to rectify issues with polls at several branches within 30 days of ROS’ instructions to do so.

"I believe this is the agenda of Palanivel, to deregister the party, and then form a new party with only his own supporters," he said.

Saying this as part of a "tell-all" on MIC spanning nine different press conferences, Ramanan however insisted that he is not making blind accusations out of spite.

When asked, the MIC man who was until recently seen as a Palanivel ally says he has proof and is not afraid to defend his accusations in court.

"I am a very vocal person. Before this I had a platform to speak in CWC, so I didn't come to the press before," he said.

"I was appointed (onto the CWC) because I fought a war for Palanivel."

Will the real president please stand up?

According to Ramanan, he was removed from the CWC because he instilled "fear" in the president by calling for fresh elections for all positions in the latest MIC emergency meet.

He said that Palanivel is "afraid" of losing his party position and is thus avoiding the topic of fresh elections or re-elections.
 
"His intention is to destroy his political enemies in a cowardly manner," he said.

Ramanan said Palanivel had at the emergency meeting last month rejected the proposal to call for fresh polls.

"Palanivel said, ‘No, no, no, the president post can't be contested’. Ask him to deny this ever happened during the meeting. KS Nijhar was also removed from CWC because he supported my opinion," he said.

Ramanan also claimed that the "real president" of MIC is Palanivel's wife R Kangam.

"She is the real president. Why? I will tell you in the second press conference, which will be all about this," he said, claiming that he has proof to back this claim as well.

"600,000 MIC members elected Palanivel as the president. Will the real president please stand up?"

Malaysiakini has contacted Palanivel's office for a response on the allegations against the president and his wife.

Ramanan said that he is exposing the party's internal affairs as he did not want to see the party deregistered due to "one man's greed".

"Palanivel does not realise the tsunami that waits for him if the party is deregistered," he said.

"I'm begging to ROS, do not play into the hands of Palanivel by deregistering the party."
