Peninsula floods improve, Sabah evacuees rising

FLOODS The flood situation in Kelantan is on the mend with only 9,957 still at 99 shelters, as compared to 24,020 people this morning.
This latest figure in Kelantan is part of the 61,034 people still at flood evacuation centres in Pahang, Perak, Terengganu, Sabah and Johor.
A Kelantan Welfare Department spokesperson said Tanah Merah still had 1,668 people in shelters, Kuala Krai (3,636), Gua Musang (2,154), Machang (2,419) and Tumpat (80).
In PERAK, the number of flood evacuees dropped slightly to 6,775 people compared to 6,881 this morning.
A National Security Council (MKN) spokesperson for Perak said Perak Tengah had 5,086 evacuees, Kuala Kangsar (538), Hulu Perak (739), Manjung (140) and Hilir Perak (272).
Meanwhile, the situation has not changed in Terengganu, Pahang and Johor, with the number of flood victims in the three states remaining the same as this morning.
In TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees remained at 143 people who are sheltered at one relief centre in Dungun.
In PAHANG, the number of evacuees still stood at 42,938 people who are sheltered at 187 relief centres in the seven affected districts.
A Pahang Contingent Police Headquarters Flood Operations Room spokesperson said Temerloh had 20,962 evacuees, Pekan (11,063), Jerantut (3,792 ), Bera (3,479), Maran (2,168), Kuantan (1,074) and Lipis (400).
In JOHOR, 116 people from 24 families were still at six shelters, one in Batu Pahat and five in Segamat.
In SABAH, the trend was different with the number of evacuees rising slightly to 1,105 people, as compared to 910 people this morning who were being sheltered at five shelters in three districts, according the state's Disaster Operations Control Centre.
Kota Belud had the highest number of evacuees at 821 people, followed by Kota Marudu (265) and Pitas (19).
