Malay right-wing non-governmental organisation Pekida wants the police to investigate Batu Kawan Umno vice-head Khairuddin Abu Hassan, alleging that the latter had lodged a false report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) Pekida vice-chairperson Mohamad Hilme Ibrahim lodged a police report regarding the matter at the Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) police headquarters in Bandar Perda in Seberang Perai today.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Mohamad Hilme said Khairuddin’s action had not only tarnished the image of 1MDB, but also Batu Kawan Umno and Penang Umno.

Earlier, a group of about 80 people from various Malay NGOs in Penang had staged a peaceful demonstration over the matter in front of the police station.

Khairuddin had lodged his report at the Dang Wang police station in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 13 claiming there was mismanagement in  the government-linked company.
