PAS said the idea that they have to form a unity government with Kelantan to get the Umno-BN federal government’s help in rebuilding Kelantan shows how “malicious” Umno is.
 
“I thank (Sinar Harian owner) Hussamuddin Yaakob for making the suggestion (for a unity government).
 
“However looking at the suggestion the other way, it shows how malicious Umno and BN are,” said information chief Mahfuz Omar at a press conference today at PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
 
He was commenting on the Sinar boss’ suggestion that PAS form a unity government with Umno in order to rebuild the flood-ravaged state.
 
“It means, if we want Umno to help us we must form a unity government with them.
 
“He (Hussamuddin) is a Kelantanese, he should know how hard it is for Kelantan to get assistance from the federal government,” he added.
 
PAS-led Kelantan has been trying for years to get royalties from its own oilfields back from Putrajaya, but has yet to see any of its oil revenue from the BN government.

Mahfuz insisted that a BN-PAS unity government will not happen.
 
However, he said, cooperation between state and federal government must be strengthened.
 
"There is no need for a unity government but what is needed is government to government cooperation," he said.
 
He also urged Putrajaya to release the oil royalty money owed to Kelantan to help with the state's reconstruction from the devastating flood.
 
"It is the right of the Kelantan government to get oil royalty which can be used to rebuild Kelantan," he said.
