YOURSAY ‘Ahmad Yakob, please stop talking like an Umno menteri besar.’

Kelantan MB denies floods worsened by logging

Legit: The PAS government, and before that the BN government, have been ‘raping’ the jungles through sheer corruption and theft.

Now that you plan to implement hudud, will all of you be punished for your sins or you are exempted because of your position?

Sam04: Just look at the colour of the floodwaters and you will see what has caused the flooding.

The deep red colour and the mud that the floods leave behind is a clear signal that the water come from logged-out areas where soil erosion is very high.

If the natural jungle is left untouched, floods happen very rarely and then only for very short times.

Kit P: There is the theory and there is the reality. The fact is that in the inaccessible corners of Kelantan, logging has been done in a rampant manner; jungle cut until bare red earth and unwanted trees left standing. No surprises that this has worsen the impact of heavy rains.

Starwars: Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob, please stop talking like an Umno menteri besar.

Angry_Voter: “If there are any uncontrolled logging activities taking place, it may have been done by irresponsible parties,” said Ahmad.

Look, no matter how hard you pray there will always be "irresponsible parties" to spoil your day.

If you stop blaming God and take it upon yourself to do the earthly job you are entrusted to do by the people, your prayers might be answered.

Lies, Lies & More Lies: Keep bullsh**ting the rakyat and we will self-destruct sooner rather than later.

Corruption is at an unprecedented level. Our corrupt politicians think they are elected to loot the country. Well, the signals are clear. As we sow, so shall we reap.

Axolotl: Ahmad Yakob is no different from your typical Umno warlord. Totally incapable of an honest response, only interested in protecting his own political and financial interests.

Ahmad Yakob, your performance throughout the flood crisis has been abysmal. If you were born into the samurai tradition, ‘seppuku’ would be the only honourable way out.

View Point: Yes, deny, deny and deny and say that flood was because hudud was not implemented. I think this PAS government in Kelantan needs to be changed, otherwise the suffering will continue for another 100 years.

Keturunan Malaysia: Ahmad Yakob, so you are saying that uncontrolled logging and clearing of forest is not a part contributor of the factor that cause the flood (as HRH the Sultan of Kelantan rightly put it), then are you saying that it is because there are people still opposed to the implementation of hudud in the state?

Ronald: It seems to me many would not be too sad if BN were to recapture Kelantan at the 14th general election (GE14).

PAS better wake up to reality now if they want to continue to govern Kelantan. And say goodbye to hudud as well.

PAS spurns 'join hands with Umno' proposal

RCZ: Both Umno and PAS should be rejected by Kelantan. Neither have done anything for the state year after year. Basic living and working conditions are not there. Isn't this the most basic thing that the people who voted for PAS want?

Do they want hudud over that of better governance?

YouAreNotAlone: Now the chance has come. The flood aftermath is a good time for the unscrupulous politicians to blackmail the people there.

I suggest the Kelantanese should vote for Umno in GE14. And if Umno is no improvement, kick them out in GE15 by voting PKR or DAP.

As for PAS, you know they never do anything for the state except for their extreme preaching.

Appum: The federal government should give what is due to Kelantan and let the PAS government rebuild it. If PAS does a bad job of it, then kick them out in the next GE. That's how it should be.

Vgeorgemy: All these underdevelopment in Kelantan are due to the withholding of oil royalty due to them.

The present administration in Kelantan is very capable of doing the reconstruction and flood mitigation works if the funds were made available to them. It is known that they have very minimal or no corruption in the administration.

If we take Bandar Aceh’s reconstruction after the tsunami, we are able to see the local administration was able to rebuild it in record time as the central government in Jakarta allowed the reconstruction monies to flow to them.

Jakarta didn’t wait to print and paste any of their faces in the relief effort. Umno must act responsibly to alleviate the misery of the Malay households.

James_3392: Joint government? Yes, to start with, BN should form a joint government with Pakatan to eradicate corruption, abuse of power and to improve various government agencies, since after 57 years BN has not demonstrated its capabilities to do it alone, and now Pakatan has the majority support.

If BN had formed a joint government with Pakatan, this east coast flood would have been better managed.

Casey919: Such unity is a matter of time as both parties are eyeing the same voters. If you mix 'white' with 'black' you get 'grey' and this mixture of grey is a sign of gloominess to come.

Dark clouds will remain over our heads until 2016, when the Eminent 25 and its momentum will overcome corrupted and overzealous purer-than-thou zealots.
