Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah received his first nomination for the Umno president's post today - it came from the Gua Musang division, of which he is the pro tem head.

A Bernama report said that the delegates also nominated Najib Tun Razak for the Umno deputy president's post.

Their nominees for the three Umno vice-president's posts were Muhammad Muhd Taib, Shahrir Abdul Samad and Abdul Ghani Othman.

The Umno elections will be held in September.

Chaotic Wanita meeting

Meanwhile, the Gua Musang Wanita Umno division meeting yesterday was chaotic as chairs were hurled and jeers rang through the Chinese school hall where the meeting was held.

According to the Star, the gathering saw a group of disgruntled women staging a walkout after other delegates rejected their candidate for the top post.

The chaos began after the nomination of challenger Zubaidah Mohd Ariffin was rejected by the meeting chairperson and incumbent Wan Hazani Wan Mohd was named the winner without contest.

Upset with the decision, Zubaidah asked her supporters to leave the meeting and this was when the commotion started.

Wan Hazani told reporters later that "It's not that I do not support him (Ku Li). I still love him, that's why I'm doing this,".
