Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will cooperate in investigations into the fatal
mishap at the Light Rail Transit (LRT) extension project in Puchong
yesterday.

The incident killed two Bangladeshi workers, where the second body was recovered at 1.15am today while the first was prised from the under the concrete rubble at 10pm.

Two other workers who were initially feared trapped were found unharmed elsewhere.

Prasarana group director for project development Zohari Sulaiman said that all relevant parties would extend their full support to facilitate the investigations.

This include project management consultant, Opus-Ace Vector Consortium; detailed design consultant and supervising engineer, HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd; and the contractor of the Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru Depot for the Ampang LRT Line Extension Project, Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd.

“We sincerely regret the unfortunate incident and would extend a helping hand to the family of both workers,” said Zohari in a statement today.

He also thanked the Fire and Rescue Department, police and medical
officers.

The scaffolding and formwork that the two killed workers collapsed during the concreting of the deck slab at 4.20pm yesterday.

Officers from the Fire and Rescue Services Department recovered the first body at the worksite at 10pm yesterday.

Four other workers had minor injuries and were given outpatient treatment.

In August, three Bangladeshi workers perished when a 300-tonne concrete block fell at the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) worksite near the former Rubber Research Institute (RRI) in Kota Damansara.

The MRT project is owned by MRT Corp, a separate entity to Prasarana.
