Even severe floods will not deter Kelantan PAS from holding its special sitting on the Hudud Bill on Dec 29, said state Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob.

"The floods are a sudden incident. However, the call for the state assembly sitting is a part of the state's general administration.
"Although there are floods, we still need to work," he was quoted as saying by Sin Chew Daily today.
Meanwhile, Umno - which has been supporting PAS on the implementation of the Islamic law in Kelantan - said that they hope the latter will not make “a U-turn” at the last minute because of pressure from DAP and PKR.
Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi (right) was reported by Malay daily Sinar Harian as saying that PAS needed to "stand their ground" even as the other Pakatan Rakyat component parties continue to oppose hudud implementation in Kelantan.
“I worry that PAS will make a U-turn at the very last minute because of the strong objection from other Pakatan component parties,” he noted.
Puad said he also hopes PAS will not delay with its implementation any longer.
Full support from Bung Mokhtar
On that note, Umno supreme council member Bung Mokhtar Radin had also been reported by the same Malay daily echoing his agreement that PAS will not budge an inch from their decision to implement hudud.
“I give PAS my full support. This is PAS’ battle from the beginning and (I hope) they will not stop even if they are receiving pressure from any parties,” Bung (left) stressed.
The Kelantan PAS government had announced on Dec 14 that it will be holding a special sitting on the matter to speed things up.
Among its agendas to be tabled is an amendment of the Syariah Criminal Law Act II 1993 (Amended 2014).
Ahmad also said that the sitting will enable a private bill to be brought to the coming session of Dewan Rakyat.
However, the sudden announcement was met with suspicion by several individuals - among them PKR central committee member Latheefa Koya - who asked if the sudden special sitting is an attempt to distract from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
PAS has since denied allegations that the sitting is “sweeping the 1MDB issue under the carpet”.
