Leaders vetoing Pakatan should quit, says DAP

A DAP delegate today demanded that any leaders who cannot abide by the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council's decision and has a penchant for vetoing it should quit their party.

DAP Perak delegate Wong Kah Woh, speaking at the DAP annual state conference in Subang Jaya, said that this is among the measures that must be taken to strengthen the opposition coalition.
"Any leaders from any parties that go against the decision of (the Pakatan leadership council) or wants to veto the decision, they do not deserve to be in the leadership of their party and should step down," he said.
He also urged the Pakatan leadership council, which has not convened for six months, to hold its meeting at least once every month.
Wong, who is also Perak’s Canning state assemblyperson, added that the council should also be formed in every state.
Wong did not name names but appeared to be referring to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (left) who refuses to attend the Pakatan leadership council meeting.
The Islamist party leader had snubbed Pakatan after disagreements in the Selangor menteri besar crisis where Hadi veto-ed the coalition's choice of candidates for menteri besar.
Nonetheless, Wong urged Pakatan at the central level to emulate Perak in resolving this disagreement.
He related that despite disagreements at the federal level, Pakatan in Perak has held about 60 meetings since its creation in 2009.
He added that PAS should not be blamed for the problems in Pakatan as only "a few" members were responsible.
"At the national level, we still have people like Mohamad Sabu, Khalid Samad in Selangor and Mohammad Nizar jamaluddin in Perak (who support Pakatan)," he said.
Wong added that even in Perak, there were PAS personalities "like Abdul Hadi" but they were able to overcome their differences.
"In Perak, not every PAS leader is like Nizar (right), there are also leaders like Hadi and his followers," he said.
Wong said Pakatan is like a trishaw, with each of the tyre representing Pakatan's component parties and can only move together.
