No concern at Umno AGM on national interest issues

YOURSAY ‘As usual, it was mostly focused on race-religion championing.’
Curtain falls on ‘frustrated’ Najib as the right rejoice
Kamaapo: So the Umno AGM was, as usual, mostly just on race-religion championing agenda.
Issues of national interest like corruption, educational standards, leakages, deaths in custody, 1MDB's financial woes, declining Petronas' revenues, curbing government wastage, rule of law, strategies to take on the national economic challenges, MAS, economic empowerment of the Orang Asli and natives of Sabah/Sarawak, national unity, etc, were sadly put on the back burner.
Are they not the concerns of Umno? No? Then whose concerns are they?
Nitendo: The series of insults against the royal institution are becoming more frequent. Since the ISA was abolished by the prime minister Najib Razak, various issues have started to arise and more people dispute the power of the king and are also insulting religion. So the decision to retain the Sedition Act is a good move by the prime minister.
Prudent: Najib has seen the writing on the wall. His party is blinded by Ketuanan Melayu to its imminent fall. Once out of power, he is mincemeat to the Umno ultras. He should now make a suitable deal with Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim so that the Umno right, supported by a minority of voters, is sidelined - where it belongs.
For Malaysia's sake and his own skin, he needs to resolve this and move decisively now. If he does, perhaps even Rosmah can keep her diamonds.
Teruna: 'Freedom to speak' doesn't mean not abiding by the law or overruling the Sedition Act. 'Freedom to speak' is not 'freedom to provoke'.
Anonymous_3e21: It was amazing to see Umno members giving loud cheers as if they had won GE14 when Najib and Home Minister Zahid Hamidi announced that they will keep and further tighten the Sedition Act. What a pitiful sight indeed.
Doc: The curtain has comedown yet again for Circus Umno. Pretty much the standard entertainment lineup was presented in Circus Umno 2014 that has been offered for the last 30 years - fiery, nonsensical, downright dumb, bizarre, saving the Malay race and racist speeches were the norm by many of the regular clowns. This year's circus ring leader was his usual ‘kelam-kebut’ self.
Notably, Chinese bashing was not on the list of entertainment this year. This was replaced with bashing non-Malays in general. The only new act that was introduced was the Umno Puteri ‘baby elephant ‘show which was interesting.
Another year has gone by without any keris being exhibited. In general, I would say Umno needs to change their act altogether otherwise the yearly Circus Umno AGM may get cancelled after the next general election, and replaced by the ever popular Pakatan antics.
I would say the ‘Kajang Grab’ show put up by Pakatan was anytime more entertaining this drab 2014 Circus Umno AGM.
Fair Play: I have finally reconciled with the fact that so long as Ketuanan Umno is at the helm, the nation wold be heading in only one direction - south and deep south.
Don't Just Talk: Thank goodness that the Chinese bashing is finally over but what comes next has yet to be seen.
We have a clown from Kedah who said that the Chinese community burnt the Quran when it was done by a mentally-ill Malay.
Another clown from Penang said it was DAP who bought up Malay reserve land in Balik Pulau and chasing away the Malays from the Island, when in fact it was carried-out by a company owned by an Umno Baru family, as clarified by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The most outstanding statement came from a doctor that for every grain of rice we eat, we should be grateful to Umno Baru. With such outstanding political leaders in Malaysia, what more do we want.
Apa Nama: I need to thank Umno Baru, for its recent AGM. It has to dig its own grave for defeat in GE14. Let's start a campaign, "60 years is enough" to teach them an unforgettable lesson.
They need to be retired once and for all for a better Malaysia. Otherwise the future generations will not forgive us. My wish is all the races should vote for Pakatan to make Umno Baru and BN the opposition at federal level. May my dream come true, come GE14.
Ram1: The damage is already done. We don't deserve this. Please note you are pushing away the Chinese vote further away and not all Malays support Umno - these are the silent voters.
Anonymous_3e86: If Najib is indeed serious about the fair implementation of the Sedition Act why didn't he condemn the speeches by Mashitah Ibrahim or Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said. His silence merely encourages such racist politicians and others like Ibrahim Ali, Abdullah Zaik and Ridhuan Tee to continue spewing hate sentiments. His absence of deeds speaks louder than his words.
Apa Ini?: Najib needs to be reminded that "friendly fire" kills. Get yourself some real advisors. Not just spinners who apple polish every issue and land you in a poor light for all the brief moments of limelight and applause.
Malaysians shake their heads in disbelief over the hate and ill-will and threats this Umno AGM has thrown up and hope when the big party is over, many delegates will reflect on how sick they got at their party.
