Penang exco member Dr Afif Bahardin has lodged a police report over a fake banner promoting communism with his image and that of other Pakatan Rakyat leaders.

The banner also has a photograph of the late Communist Party Malaya leader Chin Peng.

Below his image were the words, "Parajurit Parti Komunis Malaya...Saya yakin penuh bahawa api perjuangan demi keadilan sosial dan perikemanusian tidak akan padam (Communist Party Malaya fighters... I am confident that the flames of our struggle for social justice and humanity will not extinguish).”

Other than Afif's photo, images of PAS deputy chief Mohammed Sabu and Seberang Perai Municipal councillor Amir Ghazali are also displayed on the banner.

The banner advertised a dinner at the Multipurpose Hall in Chai Leng Park, Butterworth, tomorrow, which is open to public.

Afif (left) strongly condemned those responsible for putting up the banner and denied that such an event was being planned.

He also denied the involvement of Mohammed, better known as Mat Sabu, and Amir, a local PKR leader.

"We found the banner at a school in Pokok Sena, Tasek Gelugor," he said.

"We want the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and to act on the culprits who put up the banner," he added.

The report was lodged by Fathilullail Jaafar Sidek, on behalf of the Seberang Jaya assemblyperson, at the Seberang Perai Tengah police headquarters in Bukit Mertajam.
