Up to eight relief centres have been opened in flood-hit Kedah while the situation in flood-hit areas in Terengganu continued to improve as of this morning.

Floods also struck Perak and Malacca overnight and early today, respectively, forcing several people to be evacuated to relief centres.
The eight relief centres in Kedah are housing 1,182 people from 334 families, according to the Kedah National Security Council portal.
It said five of the centres are in the Kubang Pasu district, namely Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Changloon which is housing 253 evacuees; the Kampung Lahar community hall (162 evacuees); SMK Paya Kemunting (375); Jitra community hall (218) and the Kampung Manggol community hall (60).
Two of the centres are in the Kota Setar district, at SMK (C) Soon Cheng (10 evacuees) and the Kampung Longgok Pasir surau (100) while one centre is in the Pendang district, at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Baru (four).
In TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees has dropped from 250 overnight to 247 this morning.
The Terengganu National Security Council portal reported that only one relief centre remained open as at 9am, at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kompleks Gong Badak.
Two relief centres, at SK Tok Jiring, Kuala Terengganu, and SK Pasir Puteh, Marang, were closed late yesterday after all the evacuees were allowed to return to their homes after the floods receded.
The weather was fine in Kuala Terengganu this morning.
In PERAK, 146 people from 46 families were evacuated to SK Changkang Jong in Teluk Intan overnight.
Hilir Perak Department of Civil Defence officer Mohd Fazly Mohamad Zawawi said the evacuees were from Lorong Mesra at Batu 7; Lorong Setia at Batu 11 and Kampung Batu 9.
Sungai Bidor burst its banks following heavy rain, he told Bernama.
Mohd Fazly said the river level had risen to 3.72 metres, above the danger point of 3.5 metres.
In MALACCA, a relief centre was opened in Kampung Parit Melana, Durian Tunggal, to house seven people from three families early today.
Malacca National Security Council assistant secretary Jafri Mohamed said the evacuees were housed at the village community hall after their houses were flooded following heavy rain last night.
“Sungai Melaka burst its banks and caused the flood,” he told Bernama.
