PARLIAMENT The government has tabled a white paper in Parliament on the threat posed by the Islamic State (IS) militant group in Malaysia.

The white paper is expected to be read and debated tomorrow, led by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The white paper is titled 'Towards overcoming the threat of Islamic State' and will entail government policies to curb the threat.

Tomorrow, Najib is expected to move that there is a need about the IS’ threat to national security and to all Malaysians.

“That this House passes and blesses the policies and efforts that the government takes to overcome the IS threat,” he would move.

The government had widely condemned the IS and declared it a terrorist organisation, but there remains concerns over the participation of some Malaysians who have links to IS.

IS has been condemned by most of nations across the world, with the United States launching airstrikes on their strongholds recently.
