'Chinese can do business because 'tuan' tolerant'

Onepen: We, the non-Malays, do hereby declare our loyalty to the Yang Di Pertuan Agong, our state rulers, accept the national language and recognise Islam as the official religion of the country.

 

We also accept the special position of the Malays so that their economic status can be lifted.

 

However, we should not be questioned if we vote the incompetent out, irrespective of their political parties. That is not part of the constitution. My father was asked to vote the Alliance, Labour and Independent. Where are those parties now?

 

Parties come and go. Only good principled parties which support fellow Malaysians survive in this competitive world will get our votes. Not those which frighten us, those which try to be our tuans, and those which don't respect our existence.

 

Ablastine: What is Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee talking about? On the one hand, he wants the non-Malays to submit themselves to be ‘slaves’ of the Malays. Then he wants the non-Malays to vote for Umno so they can continue to be enslaved.

 

Sirach: This is typical of the puerile nonsense that the Umno Baru types spout.

 

They play the race card at the drop of a hat. They conflate the interests of Umno Baru with that of the nation. They try to frighten the Malays into believing that they are the saviour of the race, that without Umno Baru the Malay will be marginalised.

 

Meanwhile, they and their cronies amass wealth beyond imagination, while the ordinary Malay's lot remains unchanged. Their 57-year grip on power has gone to their heads. To them, being opposed to Umno Baru is tantamount to treason.

 

In their mind, support for the opposition is likened to a betrayal of the nation. Well, the bitter truth is that the bulk of the 52 percent popular vote in GE13 came from Malays, who have got wise to the scam.

 

The good, transparent and accountable governance of Selangor, Penang and Kelantan is proof that a better alternative to Umno Baru exists. And this scares the living daylights out of them. So, on cue, the fear-mongering begins.

 

WDA: I've had it up to here with this 'tuan' nonsense. Do you expect the Chinese to bow and address every Malay they meet on the street as 'tuan'? Will that add to your low self-esteem and your false feeling of supremacy?

 

You say the Chinese can do business because the Malays are tolerant? Name me a country that does not allow citizens of a particular race to do business?

Let's face the hard facts. The country is doomed if the Chinese don’t contribute the majority of the taxes used to build this nation.

 

Even with all the support from the government and being 'masters' of the land, the Malays continue to lag behind in the business arena. So why would the Chinese be envious of the Malays?

 

And why would anybody be envious of a person who is so mentally challenged that he thinks the Chinese should only support the government and not the opposition?

 

Do you even know what democracy means? Respect must be earned, Tuan Syed.

 

Grey Matter: Syed Ali is a real threat to Islam. In Islam, there is no 'ketuanan' of one person or a race over another. When I last checked, ‘ketuanan’ was practised in South Africa and the rest of the world, including Malaysia, helped to dismantle the cruel apartheid regime.

 

‘Ketuanan’ was also practised by one Adolf Hitler. So why are you spewing this hate which is unIslamic?

 

By the way, the Malays are also immigrants and the only people who can claim to be original inhabitants of this country are Orang Asli. Please stop this failed ‘ketuanan’ ideology as it is irrelevant in this day and time.

 

Swot Strategist: Syed Ali is trying to impart the historical caste-system which is blatantly against the true Islamic faith that propagates equality in human race.

 

The surnames, ‘Syeds’ have long been considered the noble descendants of Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and most Muslims would acknowledge these honourific meaning in the Arab world as ‘liege lord’ or ‘master’ if translated in English.

 

Being over seven million, the Syeds around the world migrated mainly from Yemen, mostly as peaceful and hardworking merchants with the exception of this false pedigree.

 

He may not know that many Chinese engineers helped in the infrastructure and medical development in Yemen, such as the 400km mountainous highway from Sanaa to Hodeida, way back in 1957.

 

Imran: It has been very obvious for some time now that Umno will not treat Malaysians of other races as equals. This was systematically started by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

 

I think most educated non-Malays are aware of this and there is zero patriotism. Non-Malays professionals just want to make their money and get out from here at the first available opportunity.

 

They really don’t care much about the politics except once in every five years when they go to the ballot box.

 

Debater: The Chinese always compromise. If you have 25 percent of Europeans in Malaysia instead of Chinese, they would have wiped out the Malays. Also, it is not respect the Malays want but free handouts.

 

This is impossible because the minority cannot forever keep supporting the majority.

 

Anonymous_1397711138: Chinese attitude must change. I agree. They must be on the side of the government. After next election they will rightly and squarely be on the side of the government - the Pakatan Rakyat government.

 

Mushiro: Syed Ali has to accept the fact that the non-Malays have teamed up with the PKR Malays and PAS Malays and that is the way it is going to be from now.

 

Threats don't work, ‘ketuanan’ doesn't work, corruption doesn't work, religion and racism don't work. Stick to Umno, MCA or MIC if you believe in them. Move over to Pakatan if you want change.
