Don't steal limelight from sultan, MCA tells MB

SRMan: Selangor MCA secretary Ng Chok Sin said Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali should not "hijack" the good work of the sultan, who reportedly had actively worked behind the scenes even before Azmin was sworn in as MB.
 
Ng, firstly, tell us how you know that the sultan had actively worked behind the scenes?
 
Secondly, by saying that the sultan had actively worked behind the scenes, you can in fact be hauled up and charged under the Sedition Act.
 
The sultan, being the Islamic head of state, could simply decree for the return of the seized bibles if he so wished, and Jais (Selangor Islamic Affairs Department) or Mais (Selangor Islamic Council) would have obediently and immediately complied with it.
 
So by saying that "the sultan was actively working behind the scenes", are you not belittling the power of the sultan?
 
Anonymous_1371482984: If the issue of returning the bibles was between the palace and the Islamic authorities, why did it take so long (10 months) for their return?
 
Why couldn’t it be resolved in one or two months? If politicians were not involved, then the Selangor MB crisis should not be an excuse. If it had been resolved during Khalid Ibrahim's time, it would have reflected well on him.
 
When Azmin became MB, he made it a top priority to solve the issue and the seized bibles were returned within a short time. One can safely assume therefore that he had a hand in resolving the issue.
 
Oriole: Suddenly we see Ng appearing out of the woodwork to criticise efforts to resolve a resounding shame for this country.
 
Where was he and his sidekicks when the rakyat really needed them to step up and do something concrete to prevent the oppression of minorities?
 
Wira: No wonder MCA is the ‘Marah Cina Association’. The Bible issue is one of the key reasons why DAP supported the ‘Kajang Move’ to remove former MB Khalid, while Azmin courageously declared and affirmed at a DAP function, that the seized bibles should be returned.
 
We give credit where credit is due. Well done, Azmin.
 
Anonymous_40f4: Azmin, after becoming MB, declared that the seized bibles belong to the Christians and within two weeks they were returned with Azmin overseeing the handover function. Obviously, MCA is jealous that Pakatan had done a good job.
 
Anon111: For more than 10 months, the bibles were not returned. The sultan washed his hands by telling people to negotiate with Jais. About two weeks after Azmin becomes MB, the bibles are returned. So who should get the credit?
 
Odysseus: DAP gave Khalid time to sort out the issue. Unfortunately, he failed. Hence, DAP supported PKR in removing Khalid as MB.
 
Please tell us when has MCA insisted on any Umno leaders to deliver and when they failed, removed them?
 
Sirach: MCA, after the humiliation of GE13, should keep as low a profile as possible and try to win back a semblance of credibility by doing something positive, not by taking cheap shots.
 
It should be asking hard questions of Umno Baru on Chinese-centric issues, of which there are many. If that is taboo (it probably is), then at least join in the chorus for clarity on issues which concern all Malaysians, 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad) for instance.
 
But with the PKFZ (Port Klang Free Zone) controversy still fresh in the memory, that too may be asking too much. Perhaps that's why they bleat on issues like this - just to us remind us they are still around. But does anybody really care?
 
Lamps: When Azmin returns the bibles to Christians, MCA scolds him. When Perkasa and Isma spew racism, MCA keeps quiet. MCA is on the wrong side of history.
 
Bumiputhran: MCA has forgotten the sultan had earlier instructed Jais to refer the matter to the courts. Azmin cleverly negotiated a quicker process. Give him the credit.                 
 
Ratbatblue: That's the trouble with the MCA. It seems that its sole purpose for existence is to criticise whatever Pakatan does. Never mind that the Chinese have royally abandoned them since 2008. What have they done in Selangor so far?
 
Not only have they lost credibility in this state with a high Chinese population, they do not command the following of that community in other BN-held states either.
 
They seem to put down whatever the opposition suggests or does just for the sake of doing so, and not with the genuine interest of the Chinese community at large.
 
Dingy: This is an insult to the sultan that he had to “negotiate” for the bibles to be returned. The sultan does not negotiate with religious authorities which are under him. He orders.
 
Something is not right here to claim that the sultan negotiated with various authorities. The sultan is above politics but the palace authorities are not.
 
1 Melayu 1 Bahasa 1 Malaysia: I remember an Azmin press conference where he did praise the sultan for his wisdom in releasing the bibles. He did mention that it was the Sultan of Selangor who decided to return the bibles after several discussions with Azmin.
 
Anak, Bangsa, Malaysia: MCA can fly kites. MCA did not do anything. Khalid did nothing. Azmin did, and that is commendable.
 
ACR: MCA, I want you to go and ask your forefathers in MCA about its effective track record in the Selangor Assembly, specifically in 1988, when the Selangor Syariah Enactment was passed in violation of Article 11(3) of the federal constitution.
