PKR's Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen today said that he is "perplexed" by the government's decision to release cost benefit analysis (CBA) reports on the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) after negotiations are concluded.
 
International Trade and Industries Minister Mustapa Mohamed told the Dewan Rakyat that the government will release the reports only after negotiations end, even though interim reports are completed.
 
"Logic demands that the reports should be available to guide us through the final stages of the negotiations," Wong said during a press conference.
 
"Therefore the so called final reports should be made available to MPs before trade negotiations are concluded," he added.

The government had confirmed that it will do a CBA on TPPA’s impact for Malaysia back in December 2013, but has not released any reports to date.

Wong said that he would assume that the interim CBA report had given the thumbs down on the TPPA, and that is why the government, which had continued negotiations despite widespread criticism, has not released the report.
