Despite being viewed as one of the best avenues to reach the people, social media is quickly turning into a bane for PAS, the party’s syura council secretary Muhammad Zawawi Nik Saleh said today.

According to PAS organ HarakahDaily, Zawawi said so during a PAS programme in Temerloh, Pahang.

“New media should be used for propagation to educate people on the right path. But the facilities with various applications are taken advantage of for other reasons,” he said.

He said that on top of mainstream media, PAS now has to contend with internal criticisms aired through social media.

“Stop with slandering or making sensational statements. Do not belittle the ulama,” he said.

“Remember, for a person who likes to point other people’s flaws, Allah will expose his own flaws,” he added.
