Buying a medical degree in India
I refer to the letter by Dr Sarah Verghis asking why certain medical colleges under India's Bangalore University are not recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council.
Please allow me to try and answer that question. I don't know wether it is the absolute truth but its something worth thinking about.
You can do almost anything in India with the right kind of money - even pay to have your exams answers written out for you. Some medical schools will insist on a certain 'donation' prior to their exams. But, of course, you won't be able to prove this as there won't be any receipts issued.
Yes, Verghis. Isn't it a scary fact to know that some of your peers and definitely some of your juniors may not have qualified but instead managed to pay their way through medical schools and are now looming around in our hospitals?
I am sure that as a doctor that has been trained properly, you would be able to identify these 'paid' doctors by their level of knowledge and practice. I hope that this sheds some light onto your hungama.
