Kajang flooded yet again after heavy downpour

After a ferocious downpour this afternoon, uptown Kajang was once again flooded.
A blockage at Kajang market had caused a huge volume of water from the Sungai Jelok river to pour from its banks and to flood the town.

A blockage at Kajang market had caused a huge volume of water from the Sungai Jelok river to pour from its banks and to flood the town.
According to Bernama, the floods occured after a three-hour heavy downpour which started at 2pm.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said low-lying areas were submered under half a meter of flood waters.
The areas most affected were Kajang town, Taman Jasmin and Saujana Impian, the national newsire reported.
The department's assistant director (Operations) Mohamad Sani Harul reportedly said that first responders assisted the Kajang Municipal Council in rescuing trapped victims.
Based on photos from Facebook posted by netizens, the flood waters went down about half an hour after the rain subsided.
It was also said that Kajang's assemblywoman Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was at the flood site with a engineer from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), trying to rectify the problem.
Meanwhile Wan Azizah who is also the president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) said she had arranged a meeting with the Kajang municipal council (MPKj) and DID to discuss and find long and short term solutions.
Wan Azizah’s 'Kajang Move' through which she became its assemblyperson, had been previously blamed by MCA for causing the massive flood on Sept 30, which hit Kajang after two hours of rain.
The constituency has been plagued with floods and Wan Azizah had said in a statement then, that she “will work harder and continue to serve the people of Kajang for (their) collective benefit”.
She had also indicated that the Kajang Assemblyperson's Office will work with MPKj's task force unit to monitor and take measures in the events of flash flood.
