The police are waiting for the Attorney-General's (AG) Chambers for its next course of action pertaining to the 157 members of the Volunteer Patrol Team (PPS) who were arrested on Aug 31.     
 
Penang police chief Abdul Rahim Hanafi said investigation papers had been submitted to the AGC.     
 
He said police bail for the PPP members was extended to Dec 1.    
He was speaking to reporters after launching the Black Spot Whitening Initiative Programme in the Bukit Gedung area here yesterday.     
 
Abdul Rahim was responding to reported claims by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that the bail extension showed the police had no evidence when nabbing the PPS members.     
 
On Aug 31, 154 PPS members were detained shortly after a march past in conjunction with the Merdeka Day parade in Penang, as the police had declared PPS to be illegal on the pretext that they were not registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).     
 
However the chief minister rebutted that the unit was set up by the state government and did not need to be registered with ROS.
