I see the recent stunt by Uthayakumar to seek asylum in Britain as nothing more than a joke and a publicity stunt. It's about time we put the issues in perspectives.

Deaths in police custody and extrajudicial police shootings are very serious abuses of human rights. That's what the focus of human rights activists, lawyers and the Bar Council should be. Of primary concern are the interests of the victims' families.

But what is happening now is that Uthayakumar is on a personal ego trip and using the sad cases of police custody deaths to seek publicity for himself.

It is about time we expose this glory-seeking person. I appeal to the misguided lawyers rallying to Uthayakumar's support to get back to basics. Take up the cases of the victims seriously. Just ignore this Prim comic.
