Pasir Mas MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz has admonished the “friendship spirit” within Pakatan, saying it caused two PAS assemblypersons to go against the party and support PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the Selangor menteri besar post.

This has since caused the two – assemblypersons Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) to be suspended from the party for one year each.

Warning that this goes against the friendship and trust built against the opposition BN coalition, Nik Abduh is quoted in Sinar Harian today as saying PAS had always respected DAP and PKR, and warned that they should not act like Umno, which was a traitor to the Islamist party in the 1970s

Nik Abduh (right), who is also a PAS central committee member, said it was not PAS that had gone against Pakatan with regard to the Selangor menteri besar crisis, but it was PKR and DAP that had violated the Pakatan friendship.

“Who began violating the friendship? It was not us... they stole our members. Our assemblyperson also are traitors and our friends within Pakatan are also traitors for violating our friendship.

“Hence, the issue in Selangor was not started by PAS. This is why I asked to respect what has been built on convention among the three of us. Not all of us agreed with what was going on,” he told Sinar Harian in an exclusive interview.

Nik Abduh said PAS had objected to the Kajang move and the move to replace Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar was also not supported.

He said similarly, when PAS wanted to implement hudud, DAP objected to it. The party respected the DAP position and tried to implement it another way, by finding support among Malay and Islamic MPs.

“Whatever it is, it is PAS right to object to such moves as it is DAP's right not to support hudud. Hence, why, when this happened, they (PKR and DAP) stole our assemblypersons (Saari and Hasnul),” the Pasir Mas MP is  quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Saari (left) was reported by daily the as saying he has not decided whether to file an appeal against his suspension.

Saari said he is having discussions on his suspension before deciding.

“I may appeal if the party leadership allows me to question the reason for my suspension. I want to ask what is the main reason in their decision leading to my suspension and if they allow that question, I will appeal,” he said.

PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali had announced the suspension of the two for supporting Wan Azizah.
