BN chief Najib Abdul Razak has told MCA factions to stop infighting as it is making life difficult for him and his deputy.

"If there is a Team A, Team B, Team C, I get confused.

"I also 'susah' (problematic), the secretary-general also 'susah', BN too 'susah', we are all in difficulty, deputy chair also 'susah'," said Najib during his address at the MCA annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.

"If we quarrel among ourselves, people too get fed up. They get fed up, become sick of hearing the quarrels," he said.

He also cited the infighting between Pakatan Rakyat parties in Selangor, saying that people were sick of hearing their quarrels.

"Just like you, if MCA quarrels, it becomes sickening. So close ranks and be united. Be stronger together, it is your team," he said.

Najib had earlier lamented how the infighting had made it hard for him to choose candidates (for ministerial posts and by-elections).

"One will say someone is the best person for the job and then it turns out that he is the ‘best person’ because he or she is on their ‘side’.

"It's hard for me as BN leader, I do not know every single (MCA) leader and I cannot name every single person as by-election candidates," he said, adding that he had to rely on MCA president (Liow Tiong Lai) to name the best candidate.

He said that MCA had to have a "sense of direction" as the infighting had led them to "lose their way".

"I did not say this, I'm merely reflecting the views of the Chinese community. They tell me MCA has lost its sense of direction.

"But now under the leadership of Liow, I am confident MCA has that sense of direction and sense of purpose," he added.
