Iszuree Ibrahim, for now, remains in the Penang municipal council but is barred from sitting in any of its subcommittees.

His accounts will also continue be frozen and will be handled by PAS Penang.

 
This was decided after Penang executive council decided not to sack Iszuree Ibrahim from his municipal council (MPPP) over his alleged criticisms of the state's squatter policy.
 
Speaking on behalf of the state cabinet, Dr Afif Bahardin (left) said the although the state government had earlier decided to sack Iszuree, the Penang government will not carry out its decision until another meeting is held with several quarters including the other Penang municipal councillors.
 
Afif said that the state government decided to hold the sacking after Penang PAS' intervention in the issue.
 
PAS leaders - state deputy commissioner Mujahid Yusof Rawa,  former state chief Salleh Man and state secretary Fadzil Kemi - met with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on Oct 2.
 
"The state government has met today and decided that Iszuree will remain in the municipal council but will be dropped from attending any subcommittees in the MPPP.
 
"Iszuree's budget allocation will be frozen and channelled to PAS representative Mhd Nasir Yahya and handled by PAS Penang.
 
"In a way, his position is still in a limbo," Afif admitted.
 
Afif said the meeting also acknowledged that Iszuree has slandered the state government, that he was "unprofessional" and had lost his credibility in the eyes of his colleagues in MPPP.
 
Iszuree incurred the wrath of the Penang government when he urged the state government to stop implementing pro-BN policies which were deemed to be pro-developer i n his speech in the party's muktamar in Johor last month.
 
The state executive council then decided to drop Iszuree from three subcommittees in the MPPP and freeze his budget allocation.
 
Nineteen of his collegues also called for his sacking as MPPP councillor, a post he held since 2008, but PAS Penang intervened to seek a solution to the issue.
 
On Monday, Mujahid expressed regret over the misunderstanding which has arisen out of Iszuree's case.
 
Mujahid also claimed that Pakatan Rakyat state council has not met for a long time and this may result in administrative and party matters not discussed properly.
